Veracruz in Bloomington-Normal

Veracruz is SO GOOD! Definitely on par with my favorite places in Chicago. Their carne asada tacos are my favorite, but I like the sopes and tamales too! Their horchata is also pretty good. Their salsa is just so-so, but I still go for their tacos and use different salsa at home.

Love going here for lunch. Fast, friendly and delicious. The veggie quesadilla is what I usually get. It is delicious. The 3 taco special with rice and beans is also very good and reasonably priced.

Very good tacos here, and the salsa is clearly homemade and fresh. I always leave full for a reasonable cost.Small gripe:A bit too greasy sometimes on the steak and on the corn tortillas for my taste, but I'm sure that's more of a feature for some folks. Area for improvement:The beans are not very good and the rice is so-so.Overall this is a great place, though!

Incredibly authentic! From the looks inside of the restaurant to the atmosphere within. The taste is amazing. Wife and I ordered the regular steak (asada) tacos, pastor (pork). I also noticed they had tripas (tripes). The tripas were super tasty and crunchy. At the end I noticed they also had suadero. however they only sold them as a plate of 3 tacos. Did not have enough space in me to order 3 more (disappointed at not being able to get one). Wish they had Aguas Frescas. That would have been complete Fest. A good restaurant have at least 2 different kind of salsas. This place had 3 in the table. This place is amazing !!!

What a gem! Great authentic Mexican street food, definitely the best you'll get in Bloomington-Normal. I recommend the tortas, they are absolutely delicious.

Since moving to the area, this is definitely the best restaurant around. The food has amazing flavor and the service was great. Chorizo and lengua tacos were delicious, tender, and packed all the meaty flavor in. Sauces carried all the spice ranges you could ask for. The pupusas were also amazing. Will definitely be going back!

Can't say I've had much of their food outside of their tacos de asada with rice & beans- BUT their tacos are pretty darn tasty. One of my favorite places to get tacos in town. Only downside compared to other places is that they do not have delivery yet (but I will still give them 5 stars since that will probably change sooner or later).

The horchata was my favorite, but the food was authentic and really good too. Very busy at lunch hour which tells me locals love it.

Wow! This place could be moved to Phoenix or along the border somewhere and would still be excellent. Super authentic. The al pastor is super legit and 💯 authentic.

Such good good and fast service! 3 homemade hot salsas that are all amazing. Great for tacos, burritos, and tortas. I got the pupusa and it was absolutely delicious. I love this place!!! Highly recommend visiting if you are looking for a low hassle, good food place in Bloomington.

Best authentic Mexican I've found since I've been in the area. Only down fall is there's no margaritas! Great lunch spot, quick counter order. Can call ahead for to go owns as well. Highly recommend!

Hard to find food like this in any of the surrounding areas. They do few things but they do them right! Great portions and the price is right. Delicious stuff right here. Highly recommend and I do so often when asked where to get good Mexican food.

The steak tacos with avocado are amazing! Don't forget about the chicken fajita quesadilla. Every item I've tried is delicious.

Hands down the BEST tacos in town!!! They taste just like the ones from Chicago. Soooooo good! Love their Tortas- the bread is always ridiculously soft (yum) Also the chicken fajita quesadilla is top notch. My father is from Mexico and gripes about every restaurant and he didn’t have any gripes on this!

Best tacos (pastor) I have ever had. Friendly staff and great food. There are other options in town (sorry Tony's good but not on same level) but this is the best.

Wow. This is my first time having steak churasco on flour tortillas. Amazing combination of beef, cabbage, and a little sour cream. And the shells are crisped a little on the grill. This is a very good meal. Tastes so perfect.

Excellent. This is the best Mexican restaurant in Bloomington Normal. I wish they were open a little later (they close at 8:30 p.m.) and now they are closed on Sundays. It is a very casual atmosphere and I do not believe alcohol is offered but it's a MUST TRY

Best tacos in Bloomington! This place makes authentic Mexican dishes, spices withheld for the ease of the populations tongue.They do, however, provide some excellent hand made salsas and sauces to put on your food! The light green salsa is the spiciest, but not as hot as a jalapeño. I’d start off with the red or dark green if you’re unsure of your tolerance.You can watch the cooking behind the counter, and it’s amazing. Anyone with a keen eye will watch them pound out fresh flour tortillas, cut up fresh vegetables, and craft your order with love!The food truly tastes amazing, and they get it to you quick! No waiting around for a waiter/waitress and no required tipping. This is locally owned though, so I do suggest leaving your change for the family running the operation. They work tirelessly to provide their services to us.

Best place for tacos hands down. Really tasty tortas and sopes too

Nothing fancy, but great food and nice staff. Seating is all 4 person booths with a couple of chairs you can put on the end if you need a 5th seat. I love their tacos and burritos. Make sure and get the 3 bottles of sauce to try. I like the avocado sauce with the Valentina sauce that should already be at the table.

Favorite spot in town. Tortas, tacos, burritos, it's all great. When dining in there's an assortment of sauces. Service is quick, cafe is clean, atmosphere is calm and comfortable.

Very disappointed! I called and placed my order for 4 burritos and they get 3 out of the 4 burritos totally wrong. I called to inform them of this and all she said was "what do you want me to do?" Are you serious? All I wanted was for them to get my order correct. The lady is pretty much arguing with me saying that I ordered incorrectly. Here is the funniest part, I placed the order in their language, as I am Hispanic and they still told me I placed it wrong. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in town and I will never go there again. I will start driving a little further and order from El Porton or just go toTony's Tacos.

Hands down the best Mexican style food in town. Don't question it, eat here and be happy. 10/10 go here all the time!

Awesome chicken tacos, steak burritos and chicken burrito. Personally prefer the grilled chicken over the chipotle seasoned chicken. The grilled seems to have much better flavor in my opinion. We travel 45 min. Just to have good authentic mexican. Can't seem to find anywhere closer that is comparable to Veracruz.

Fresh and authentic, this place is really, really, really, good! Easily comparable to Carniceria La Mexicana. In some ways better. A true contender for best Mexican food in Blono!!

GREAT FOOD! Trust me I’m Mexican. I know a good taco. I would definitely recommend it. My only complaint is, that I never get enough of those little cups filled with that tasty salsas. 🙂😊

Delicious. Glad we made the trip over from Peoria to check this out. Authentic. The creamy green sauce is the bomb.
